UPLB and KSU Forge Academic Partnership with MOU Signing

In a significant move towards fostering academic collaboration and mutual understanding, the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and the Kalinga State University (KSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 7, 2024. The ceremonial signing took place at 2pm in the Executive Conference Room at the Office of the Chancellor, UPLB, with Chancellor Jose V. Camacho Jr. representing UPLB and President Eduardo T. Bagtang representing KSU.

The purpose of this MOU is to enhance academic and educational cooperation between the two esteemed higher education institutions. Both UPLB and KSU have committed to developing collaborative activities in various academic areas on the basis of equality and reciprocity. These activities include the exchange of faculty and researchers, student exchange programs, joint research and extension projects, organization of lectures, symposia, and capacity-building programs, as well as the exchange of academic information and materials.

The MOU is set to be valid for five years from the date of signing by the respective representatives of both institutions. It will be subject to renewal based on mutual review and renegotiation by both parties.

Present as witnesses during the signing were the university officials. From KSU is Lope T. Buen, Vice President for Research and from UPLB are Ronel S. Pangan, Director for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization and Jenielyn T. Padrones, Director of the Office for Institutional Development in Higher Education.

This collaborative agreement signifies a new chapter of academic synergy and cultural exchange between UPLB and KSU, promising enriched opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers from both institutions. It underscores the commitment of UPLB and KSU to advance academic excellence and knowledge sharing in higher education.
