MOVE - Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere.

The Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere (MOVE) seminar is held at the Audio-Visual Room today where all men of both teaching and non- teaching personnel of KSU are the participants.

MOVE is an organization of men who committed themselves to being actively involved in the elimination of VAW. It is a group of caring, pro-active, and principled men who are dedicated to the cause of making the Philippines free from VAW. In 2006, the national commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), helped organize the Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere (MOVE). The members are men from various organizations, including the government, private sector, academe, and non-government organizations.

Training objectives are to speak out against VAW, organize and conduct research, studies, and fora in recognition of the social effects of VAW for policy and program development, establish resource network on VAW, form partnerships and linkages with similar groups working on VAW, locally and internationally and examine, propose, and formulate total male involvement and actions in the elimination of VAW.

To attain these objectives, MOVE's main strategy is to organize and capacitate more men from all over the Philippines, who not only abhor VAW but who are willing to pro-actively campaign and work towards its eradication.

Mr. Benny A. Fowaya, Project Developer II - SWAD Kalinga, discussed the different types of violence and it's Republic Act and the difference between Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC), Violence Against Women (VAW) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
