A four-day technical training program focusing on cocoon reeling and re-reeling was launched for sericulture farmers at Kalinga State University - Rizal Campus, Kalinga. This initiative was spearheaded by Mr. Jowel Mauricio, the Director of the Silk Innovation Center, located at the Kalinga State University - Rizal Campus. The training aims to enhance the skills of local farmers in silk production, which is vital for the development of the silk industry in the region.
Said training was conducted on May 27-30, 2024, gathering 16 sericulture farmers from Rizal, Kalinga. Technical knowledge on the process of cocoon reeling waz demonstrated and discussed by Mr. Diego Bulangen, Jr., a Project Technical Assistant IV of DOST-PTR1.
The program is part of broader efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve the livelihoods of farmers involved in sericulture. By providing hands-on training, the initiative seeks to empower these farmers with the necessary techniques and knowledge to optimize their production processes and increase their income potential.
