KSU and DepEd Partner for Orientation of Cooperating Teachers

The College of Education, in partnership with the Department of Education Tabuk City Division, hosted an Orientation of Cooperating Teachers for its Teaching Internship Program on January 27, 2025, at the University Theatre. Spearheaded by Joan M. Ranjo, DepEd Supervisor and Experiential Learning Coordinator, and Marie Joy R. Garming, COED OJT Chairperson, the event highlighted the shared commitment to elevating teaching practices. With the support of Dr. Maria Cyrila C. Bawer, Dean of the College of Education, and the directive of Dr. Benedicta B. Gamatero, Schools Division Superintendent, the orientation gathered cooperating teachers from public elementary and secondary schools across Tabuk City to prepare for the vital role they play in shaping future educators.

University President, Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor affirmed the university's strong support of these endeavors as she welcomed each guest and participant. She acknowledged the future load of tasks and much of the expectation from these cooperating teachers by both the pre-service teachers and the university, However, she is confident that both parties are highly committed and dedicated to producing products of quality teachers.

During the orientation, the roles and responsibilities of cooperating teachers in managing pre-service teachers were extensively discussed and underscored by Ramonchito A. Soriano, Chief Education Supervisor-CID, Emily B. Langkit, PSDS, and Karen W. Tabanganay, PSDS. Additionally, Dr. Bawer emphasized the university's reciprocal responsibilities both prior to and following the deployment of student practitioners.

The conduct of the orientation is a continuing effort to solidify the collaboration of Kalinga State University, the College of Education, and the Department of Education-Tabuk City Division through a signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) dated December 12, 2024. Target deployment of the pre-service teachers will begin February 3, 2025, up until the 2nd week of April 2025.
