Kalinga State University Promotes Clean Campus Initiative with CLAYGO and “Bring Home Your Trash” Campaign

In a move to foster environmental responsibility and address waste disposal challenges on campus, the Kalinga State University Office of General Services (KSU-GSO) has launched a new initiative centered around the principles of "Clean As You Go" (CLAYGO) and “Bring Home Your Trash.” This campaign encourages students to maintain cleanliness by taking responsibility for their waste, reducing litter, and promoting sustainable habits.

The CLAYGO practice, which involves individuals cleaning up after themselves, aims to instill personal accountability for waste generated in classrooms, hallways, and communal areas. By actively engaging in CLAYGO, students contribute to a cleaner and more welcoming campus environment. Complementing this, the “Bring Home Your Trash” practice encourages students to take any waste they produce with them at the end of the day, reducing the volume of waste left on campus and mitigating the strain on KSU’s waste management resources.

According to Sharmaine Codiam, Head of the GSO, these practices are crucial to minimizing improper waste disposal and maintaining an environmentally friendly campus. The office expressed its hope that students will adopt these habits as a natural part of their daily routines, supporting the university’s commitment to sustainability. This initiative aligns with Kalinga State University’s goal of promoting an eco-conscious community, highlighting the importance of individual action in achieving collective environmental goals. Through CLAYGO and “Bring Home Your Trash,” KSU-GSO aims to set a positive example and inspire lasting change in the university’s approach to waste management. KSU students, faculty and staff alike are encouraged to support and uphold these practices, contributing to a cleaner, healthier campus for everyone.
