Empowering Indigenous Futures: Strengthening Cultural Foundations in Education at KSU through the Kalinga Wisdom Lecture and Forum

IPMR Representative, Mr. BENEDICTO B. SUGGUIYAO serves as the lecturer during the Indigenous Education Lecture held Today, December 14, 2023, at KSU, RnD building.

His lecture highlights the yKalinga's Core values known as "Paniyaw", "Ngilin", "Bain" and with the addendum of "Attom" which he considers as ethical as it denotes fortitude, temperance, patience, and a virtue that is required in observance of the "PNB". Kalinga's Indigenous political structure mentioned in (RA 8371, Chapter II, sec. 3i) and the so called "BODONG” commonly known as peace pact was given emphasis through profound discussions on its processes and common terms.

The conduct of this event is through the initiatives of its proponents Dr. JUAN MOSHE M. DUYAN and its member Ms. Kristine Ann Diki. As a rationale to this event, this is an initial effort in support to and in preparation to the future passage of House Bill No. 7948 also known as "Revised Kalinga State University Charter" introduced by Congressman Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang. Moreover, this initiative strengthens Indigenous knowledge among the University faculty staffs contributing to the Universities continuous culture learning and development and in achieving various Sustainable Development Goals.

Teachers play a vital role to ensure that indigenous students receive an empowering education on the rich cultural heritage and traditions of IP communities. They act as key contributors in the preservations and in revitalizing our unique cultural traditions, which is why the events participants are the faculty, heads and members of various Colleges such as the, CPAIG, CLASS, COED and Department of Social Sciences.
