CHED Director Anduyan Inspires Graduates at Kalinga State University's 31st Mid-Year Commencement Ceremony

With the theme, “Radiating the Future of Nation Builders: Forging Pathways to Success,” Kalinga State University proudly welcomed CHED-CAR Regional Director, Hon. Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr., as the esteemed guest of honor and speaker at its 31st Mid-Year Commencement Exercises on August 30, 2024.

The event, held at the university gymnasium, celebrated the achievements of 256 graduates in the presence of university officials, faculty, staff, and the families of the graduates.

Dr. Anduyan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to address the graduating class, emphasizing the significance of the ceremony's theme. He remarked that it encapsulates the essence of the collective responsibility shared by educators, scholars, and leaders in shaping the trajectory of the nation's future.

Highlighting the role of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in this mission, Dr. Anduyan discussed the impact of Republic Act No. 10931, the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017. He noted that this legislation has significantly enhanced CHED’s commitment to quality education, accessibility, and innovation, particularly benefiting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. KSU graduates, he pointed out, are among those who have reaped the benefits of free higher education under this transformative law.

Dr. Anduyan also commended Kalinga State University for its dedication to upholding CHED’s mandate to elevate the quality of education. He praised the university's inclusion in world university rankings for innovation and its exceptional performance in internationalization efforts, which reflect its commitment to excellence and substantial contributions to the higher education landscape.

Expanding on the theme, Dr. Anduyan articulated that "radiating the future" involves a deliberate effort to illuminate the path forward—not just for educators and leaders, but more importantly, for students who will ultimately contribute to society. He stressed that educational pursuits must be guided by a dual commitment: the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning, and adherence to the ethical imperatives of equity, justice, and social responsibility.

Reflecting on his personal experiences, Dr. Anduyan added, “As I contemplate the theme, I realize that the concept of radiating the future extends beyond institutional responsibilities and educational policies. It also encompasses the quiet, often unrecognized sacrifices of those who support us—like my Nanay, whose love and dedication are the true beacons that guide us through the darkest of times.”
