The Commission on Higher Education - Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) convened an urgent meeting with State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs (VPAAs) and Deans to discuss updates regarding the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) on October 30, 2024. Dr. Ma. Geraldine Casipit, the CHED-CAR Chief Education Program Specialist representing the CHED-CAR Regional Director, emphasized the need for 100% compliance among all CAR-SUC programs.
The primary aim of the meeting was to provide updates on the COPC data. Currently, out of 305 total SUC programs, 222 are compliant, 8 are on process (CAR level), 67 on process (College level), and 8 have no applications submitted. Casipit highlighted that non-compliance with COPC could lead to restrictions imposed by the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC), preventing graduates from taking board examinations.
During the meeting, various concerns from different SUCs were raised and addressed, particularly regarding the implications of COPC non-compliance on students' future opportunities. The urgency of achieving full compliance was underscored, as it directly affects graduates' eligibility for professional licensure.
This proactive approach by CHED-CAR aims to ensure that all academic programs meet established standards, thereby safeguarding the quality of education and the future of students within the region.
Said meeting was attended by the KSU Vice President for Academics and Student Development, Dr. Marilou Adora, and the Deans of the different colleges of KSU.
