Kalinga State University College of Forestry held its First Grand Alumni Homecoming on October 19, 2024, with a theme, “Branching Out: Celebrating Our Legacy in Nature.” The event brought together former students of the Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF), Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies (BSES), and Forest Ranger Certificate in a sentimental and heartwarming gathering.
The event began with a festive motorcade while wearing custom made t-shirts, marking the day of the celebration as alumni from various years returned to campus.
Following the motorcade, attendees gathered at KSU Performing Arts Theatre for the program proper. A welcome message from the Dean of the College of Forestry, Dr. Robert Rodolfo emphasized the importance of alumni as ambassadors of KSU to the community. He also shared the good news that the BS Forestry was AACCUP accredited at level 4 phase 2, which recognizes that the university is at par with leading universities in terms of quality forestry education.
Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor, the university president, extended her unwavering support for the event through Dr. Marilou B. Adora, the Vice President for Academics and Student Development.
Dr. Emerson V. Barcellano, Cluster Executive Officer of Isabela State University Cabagan, Campus and a former professor and Dean of the College of Forestry extended his gratitude for all the learnings he received from KSU and inspired the alumni through his achievements and undertakings.
Hon. Glen Julius Amla, Board Member District II of the Province of Kalinga and one of the alumni featured the saying, “Ang Hindi Marunong Lumingon sa Pinanggalingan ay walang Patutunguhan”, and expressed his gratitude to KSU for its commitment to education.
Meanwhile, laughter and joy filled the venue as each batch expressed their happiness and energy through their singing and dancing presentations.
The event concluded with an entertaining search for Mr. and Ms. Forestry and the first election of alumni officers led by Forester Victorino Bayed.
The homecoming not only strengthened the strong connections within the College of Forestry but also, a day to remember for the attendees, as the event served to catch up with each other, honor past achievements as well as reinforce a commitment to environmental stewardship, leaving participants excited for future collaborations and initiatives.
